| I used this burner which did work well at first for the first two days I had it and then it just stopped working. I've tried on three different computers with three different operating systems(Win7,WinXP,and Ubuntu) and none of them work now. I sure don't feel I got my moneys worth. Please be aware. |

Didn't work out of the box. Tried it on several machines with an assortment of operating systems (win7, vista, linux) and even swapped usb cables. The main reason I purchased this was to make a rescue disk for my Toshiba Mini NB205-N325WH 10.1-Inch Frost White Netbook - 9 Hours of Battery Life (Windows 7 Starter). Although rescue disks for this netbook can be created via USB on SD Cards or USB drives, a minimum of one 8GB and one 2GB card/drive is required. Rather than spend $25+ on flash media, I decided it was a better investment to pick up a portable drive. Unfortunately this one didn't work. Now I have the Samsung USB 2.0 8x DVD Writer External Optical Drive for Mac and PC SE-S084C/RSBN (Gloss Black) on order.
Edit: The Samsung USB 2.0 8x DVD Writer External Optical Drive for Mac and PC SE-S084C/RSBN (Gloss Black) arrived today. It works perfectly with all my computers and comes with Nero software. It costs $8 more ($47.56 vs $39.48 at this time). Considering this product includes no software and some reviewers paid $12 for it, the Samsung is well worth the extra money. Incidentally, I didn't bother installing Nero. It's way to bloated to run on a netbook. I use vlc player which is a free and provides all the necessary codecs. |
