A relatively new park in Kolkata, Millennium Park is situated along the strand on eastern shore of Hooghly River for a stretch of 2.5 km near Babughat and opposite to Koilaghat. The park consists of landscaped gardens and children’s amusement rides. It was opened along the riverside to provide a green area for Kolkata’s polluted waterway. It is a millennium gift from Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority (KMDA/CMDA) inaugurated on 26 December 1999. (source)

Millennium Park is good to visit on a lazy evening when there is not too much time to go to some bigger place. Millennium Park gives you the oppertunity to sit at the banks of river Hoogly and enjoy the soothing cold breeze flowing over the river. However, park is usually very crowded with a high noise level. The park is located just beside ” Princep Ghat” in Calcutta. There are numerous small scale food stalls selling fast foods and cold drinks. A nice place for a quick stop with children too.
