Great to hear that you are releasing ‘Generations’. Any idea about your Great father’s composition and music direction of four magical song in a Bangladeshi film called ‘RUPALI SHOIKOTEY’ released in 1978/79 in Bangladesh. There were four singles, one each by Latagi, and the other three greats Talat Mehmood, Manna Dey and Shyamal Mitra. Can’t find them anywhere. Will be grateful if could give me any clue at all.
I’m one of the greatest admirers of not only of Salilda’s songs but also your mum’s great Bengali songs from the sixties and seventies.

I think “Kichhu kichhu kathaa aachhe” and “Kano e mon emon kare” were originally performed by Sabita Chowdhury for All India Radio, Kolkata in the ’60s.

I thought the copyrights all the songs released vy HMV/SaReGaMa/Megaphone/Inreco lie with those companies. So, I guess you need to write to them and pay them a fee if you want to re-produce/copy/karaoke them.

Salilda composed music to a few south indian films also. SalilChowdhury was introduced to Malayalam through CHEMMEEN – the milestone in Malayalam movie history. The four super hit songs in the malayalam film CHEMMEEN released in the 60s just made Salilda a household name all over Kerala. The background score is also excellent. The film introduced Salilda, Hrishikesh Mukherji and Mann Dey to Malayalam.
