  • The Recording Industry Association of America announced that it no longer plans to wage a legal assault against people who it suspects of pirating digital music files. (Reported December 19th, 2008). Cnet.Com reports that RIAA will contune to sue people who downloads 5000-6000 or more illegal mp3 songs a month.

So, what comes next? If they can not sue the person they suspect for illegal downloads?

They go after the IPSs (Internet Service Providers). The ISPs will monitor your internet activity and “reduce the internet service” for chronic file sharers. Now the RIAA will be reporting to the ISP about a customer indulging piracy. The ISP them should be sending notices to the custoer to stop illegal actions. If the user does not stop his action, IPS may suspend or discontinue the service.
