Faryl Smith (born 1995 in Kettering, England) has released the latest English Album “Faryl” with 12 great songs recently. Faryl is an English child singer from Kettering who rose to fame after auditioning for the second series of the ITV television talent show Britain’s Got Talent in 2008, performing as a mezzo-soprano. Produced and arranged by Jon Cohen, Faryl consists of an eclectic mix of 12 stunning tracks ranging from such signature classics as Amazing Grace to the lesser known Welsh hymn Calon Lan , taught lovingly to Faryl over the phone by her Grandfather. The album features Faryl s signature song Ave Maria her choice of talent show audition song which has now become synonymous with the youngster, gaining standing ovations whenever she performs it. River of Light has been written by Ivor Novello winning writer Frank Musker and is based on The Blue Danube by John Strauss one of the most popular tunes of all time. The melody is loved around the world but no one has ever heard it like this before. No doubt one of the album s hidden gems is The Way Old Friends Do written by Abba s Bjon Ulvaeus and taken from their 1980 classic Super Trouper album. Bjorn personally changed the lyrics to suit the young star. ...ordinarily Abba are very strict and never sanction lyric changes, but with Faryl, Bjorn offered to change the words personally (Tom Lewis - UCJ) Adding a new dimension to the album is Annie s Song Faryl s rendition of US country star John Denver s number 1 track from 1974. The haunting ballad highlights Faryl s varied vocal range and further showcases the young singers diversity Faryl sings with precision, emotion and power throughout each of the album s 12 tracks. A testament to her ability, Faryl proves that the young girl from Kettering has a glittering career ahead of her. Every singer dreams of recording their own album, but to have this chance at my age was amazing said Faryl. The recording was a challenge - I had to fit it around my school work and so ended up recording right through my Christmas holidays, but I loved every minute of it!

The "new" Charlotte Church

Faryl's got a beautiful voice and some wonderful talent, but her albums very much shadow Charlotte Church's work. I'd hate to say that she's a copy-cat, but it's smelling like it.
Aside from the unoriginal track listing, she has a bright future in the business and I hope that her future album collections will have a lot more variety.
If you are a fan of classical music, or haven't yet collected Charlotte Church's albums, then Faryl Smith is definitely an artist you should look into.

I didn't like this CD. I tried to like it. I listened to it a few times. Even one of my kids asked me to turn it off. Nothing strikes me as different, as the music doesn't stand out.
Beautiful voice but not a great album

True, the girl can sing. But I don't personally need yet another version of these classic covers when there are so many. One or two would be fine, but not a whole album. Also, I don't find this album easy to listen to, because each track is slightly overproduced and trying to showcase the full power of her voice and your ears never get a break. Maybe her next album will be put together better.

Faryl definitely has talent and her voice is beautiful. What's all the fanfare about her music, it just sort of blends into nowhereville after listening to a few songs. I was distracted by other things I was doing and not captivated by her songs on this album. It will be good for elevators... Faryl is just another singer, nothing special in my mind.

Faryl has the voice of an angel - listening to this disc literally leaves me with goose bumps. However, I wish that the content was more original. She sings songs such as Amazing Grace and Ave Maria - but they are very generic in a way. I wish that they maybe added something to make them more her own. This is definately an artist to follow - she is right up there with Charlotte Church and Celine Dione in terms of her vocal ability. Hopefully, next time she will use more original material. Definately check this disc out - it is great to put on while relaxing.

2008 was a year to remember for Faryl, but it is set to be the first of many. Talent show fame came with a spot on the “Britain’s Got Talent” Tour, but where most will fade away after that initial burst, it was always clear that Faryl was destined for something special. She is still an ordinary schoolgirl from Northamptonshire who plays right-back for her county championship-winning football team. Now she will have to find some extra time for superstardom. She has a strong family network around her, ensuring Faryl can fly high whilst keeping her feet on the ground. Her parents, Linda and Tony, have carefully shepherded their daughter through her fledgling career, though they’ll be the first to admit that they’re not musical (“no way!” chuckles Faryl).
Linda is convinced that Faryl has inherited her musical genes from her great-grandmother, who “used to sing on the Welsh radio and won a lot of competitions”. Her great-grandma still has a healthy pair of lungs at the age of 95. “My grandfather’s Welsh, so there’s Welsh blood in me,” Faryl adds, “And Harry Secombe is in our family tree. I think the musical thing just missed a couple of generations and came down to me.” Faryl gives plenty of credit to her history of singing in choirs. As well as being a chorister in her local church choir, she’s a regular performer with Kettering’s Masquerade Youth Choir, an outfit which can boast some impressive achievements.

It’s incredible how she is only 13 years old and she already sounds this amazing. She will definitely mature well and do very well in this industry! I recently saw her on an interview with Young Hollywood http://bit.ly/FarylYH . Yeah the name you would think that they would have the typical “Hollywood girl” but Faryl brings about an amazing side of the industry. I really really like this girl!!
