Bengali films has always been very musical like any other Indian Movies in other languages. However, the quality of Bengali Songs has decreased a lot over the time. For last 2 decades, almost none of the Bengali Film songs are worth mentioning. There was a time when we had great lyricist, music directors and singers in Kolkata. Such as Manna Dey, Hemanta Mukherjee, Shyamal Mitra, Manabendra, Sandhya Mukherjee, Arati Mukherjee, Lata Mangeshkar, Salil Chowdhury, Sudhin Dasgupta and many more.
Very recently however, there are few Bengali Movies with great soundtracks such as “Jackpot”, “Chirodini Tumi Je Amar”, “Cholo Lets Go” and more. Listen to the selected Bengali Film songs from youtube at Calcutta Music Blog.
