Bappi Lahiri is a music director and singer. He was born in 27th November, 1953. He is considered to be the pioneer of “Disco” trend in Bollywood music. He became extremely popular after the success of films like “Disco Dancer“, “Namak Halaal”, “Sharabi” etc. He is entirely famous for his eye-glasses and jewellery and always found wearing differnt types of ornaments. Bappi Lahari was born in a music rich family in Calcutta. His father Aparesh Lahidi was a musician and singer. Bappi Lahiri started learning Tabla at a tender age of three. He always wanted to be internationally recognized and famous. He started his careed as a music director with the bengali film “Daadu” released in 1972 when he was only 19 years old. He then moved to Bollywood and did music direction in the film ” Nanha Shikari” which was released in 1973. “Zakhmi (1975)” however was a turnover movie for him where he also sung as playback singer. Bappi Lahiri used Kishore Kumar and Asha Bhosle most of the time as they were the best rendering Disco type songs. He also used Alisha Chinoy and Usha Utthup for his creations. He won the “Best Music Director” award in Filmfare for the film Sharabi in 1985. He has so far done music direction on over 400 cinemas!
