A brain drain is a large emigration of individuals with the Knowledge or Technical skills, usually due to conflict, political instability, lack of opportunity, or health risks. A brain drain is generally regarded as an economic cost, because emigrants usually take with them the fraction of value of their teaching sponsored by government.
Do you believe brain drain, regularly known as a main problem in our country is essentially a bad thing? I don’t think so. In reality it is a big gift that capable minds are able to depart the country and track their goals and dreams elsewhere. At the first glimpse, it seems like a huge loss. A significant number of young people are parting the country. It looks like the state is loosing a lot of knowledgeable and educated workforce.
However, what will happen if they seal the borders and detain all this talent inside the nation? Would they be able to grow and be as creative as they would like to? Would they cause a technological revolution or will they join the queue of unemployed people as well as produce more problems for our already worried society?
The biggest benefit of brain drain is that all those individual brains will get the opportunity to nurture in another atmosphere where they get more support as well as have more freedom to boom and this is why they leave. From a universal point of view, it will help talents develop and not be shattered. Here is a plain example, a very intelligent friend of mine got a medal in the International Physics Olympics as well as entered the university with no concourse. He graduated with most excellent marks, passed the Masters Entrance exam however was failed for some silly reason. For some time he unsuccessfully tried to get around the difficulty, but at the end he gave up and determined to study his masters out of the country. Now he is a PhD as well as lives happily and works in the States. Would someone else in his condition have done something else? I think no.
Furthermore, the knowledge that those young brilliant people gain overseas will be very helpful if they choose in a later phase to go back as well as settle down or engage in their country. The fact that young cultured people leave the country in the present situation is not only good for themselves however is also good for the world.
However on the other side, Brain drain is a severe loss due to the flow of the competent and effective sector of the country particularly oil producing states which are now in terrible need for trained and highly skilled employees. Brain drain influences all level of education in the world which suffers illiteracy estimation at 70 million people. The economy can also be affected due to expenditure on study whether state funded or privately. The migration even broadens the gap between the rich and poor countries. Brain drain is advantageous to the beneficiary countries as well as loss to countries of origin, because it deprives these countries from the innovations of their subjects. Such countries as a result have become culturally and technologically dependent on the West.
An answer to this would be to encourage entrepreneurs to produce employment. The Government is supposed to give concessions in tax as well as decrease the hassles concerned in setting up an industry. In this way we could make India’s workforce one of its major assets.

brain drain is very bad not just in india but around the world if we want to develop our countries we should stay thier
The article really deserves the appreciation.Brain Drain cannot be totally criticised.I agree with the opinion of Amit that Brain Drain is better than Brain-Waste.Its easy to say that people getting education and skill in India must serve only their country but practically we must think about the person who is not getting proper position, honour, dignity, salary and facilities according to his talent and ability. In such cases he will never be satisfied with his job.He will lose the charm to do and to develop something new.Lack of appreciation will discourage him.He may become the victim of depression which leads to Brain-Waste.So,Brain-Drain cannot be totally condemned
No brain drain is the fatal thing that is taking place in India now-a-days.By this we are loosing many intelligent wizards to other countries.By this we have loosed our Kalpana chawla and Sunita williams. They are very much proud in saying that they work for NASA but they are regarded as Indo-Americans and not as Indians. But there are also people like Dr.A.P.J.Abdul Kalam who work only for the prosperity of India. All who have planned to go abroad for should change their mind and work for the growth of our nation.
The first impression which Western people will get is “Indians are brainy people. Their country does not know how to unleash their full potential.” India’s image, I honestly believe, deteriorates even more when people start thinking on these lines. I agree that the West is a very tempting place , and an opportunity to settle abroad is difficult to resist. But please do spare a thought for your Motherland , which has given us everything.A lot has to be done to make our Country a Superpower in the Global Arena.
Previously talking about 10 – 15 years ego India had no good resources and job placements, unemployment was the biggest problem but now really many job openings, industrially India had improved very far and many company from overseas has invested and investing in India and IT and other sectors has been such a big boom and job opening are always there and good pay and comparatively good life style to the developed countries like US and the European countries and u know more the 10% of the scientist in NASA are INDIAN imaging what contribution they would have done to India if they were here and so do the others fields~!!!
WE would say stay India build our own heaven than searching for heaven else where~~!!!

brain drain its like a wasting our brain for money coz some of the people want lot of money & they catch towards them i think its not suitable for our country
i agree them those who have sent brain drain is favourable because this is suit for only the people whose performance is yet not certified in oyr country.brain drain raises only for this purpose.
we may lose our freedomness in the nations other than our native. we have many restrictions to be followed . is it neccessary to live in once another nation like a slave????
I feel that if all the NRIs cum back in India then where would allthe employees go? We already have a cut throat competition 4 gettin jobs here..I feel brain drain is not a very bad thing as often suggested.
Can you ever imagine a country without engineers, scientists, doctors and other professionals? That is exactly what is happening in India. US and UK Corporations have caused the ultimate brain drain in India. Most of the talented students are running after dollar driven outsourcing work from the US or UK, working and learning IT and/or call center work. It is estimated 78% of Indian engineers from mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Civil, Instrumentation, Chemical and Biomedical engineering leave their field after graduation and work for BPO companies like TCS, Wipro etc. If this is not brain drain then what is?
i want to know about brain drain & i get.
THANKS
I believe that brain drain is much like fire.It has a good constructive side as well as a much destructive one.But its understandable since every coin has two sides. The argument that Brain drain can in fact reduce the unemployment crisis in the country is quite commendable. i completely agree that a wrong notion has been created in the minds of people about the ill effects brain drain has on a country. But in a country like, i believe that it is not justifiable.
Thanx a lot for the information dude…!!!!!
